The International Federation on Ageing 13th Annual Global Conference (WHO) co sponsored, Brisbane Australia
March 14, 2017
June 2016 I was in Australia. My friend and I went for a "bucket list" 3 week trip. Sydney to Cairns, Dive live aboard, to over 3000 km trek in a camper van! A trip to remember for sure. Arriving in Brisbane late June 2016 to speak at the conference we could really appreciate the comforts of a hotel room! When I sent in my abstract to present and speak at this conference I didn't have much hope in being selected to speak. AND here I am - at a large international conference Co Sponsored by the World Health Organization. The contacts, learning and teaching was wonderful.
Through networking and gala events I was approached by a representative of the Australian Government Health and Housing to participate in a round table discussion as an additional event. Well that was incredibly exciting for myself and my friend Eva was able attended as well. If you read "Eva's Story" she is the friend whom traveled with me to Australia. It was a memorable experience for her; being able to tell her story of a rare disease and issues only a survivor can truly understand and rely with depth.
After this Australian conference, I feel I really know what I want to do the next 20 years! I found my "pride", "my tribe", whatever you want to call it. Awesomeness.
I am volunteering at the International Living Futures UNconference in May 2017 in Seattle. I am excited about that learning experience.
